The expedition to Finnish Lapland will begin 150 km north of the Arctic Circle. Our northern course will take us from the huge Finnish forests to the polar tundra on the Norwegian border. We will pedal in search of the Aurora Borealis. First by mountain paths and sleeping in fully equipped accommodation, although for two days we will be totally away from civilization sleeping in an isolated cabin with minimal equipment.
In addition, we will enjoy the Finnish saunas, the Suomi food and we will gain expertise in a winter environment

Lapland on Bike is an expedition to Finnish Lapland crossing the tundra on snow bike. This will mean pedaling away from civilization for three days sleeping in isolated cabins with minimal equipment.
We will pedal in search of the Aurora Borealis following the mountain paths. We will see the change of landscapes, from the wooded areas to the Lapland Tundra.

Companion guide: David Casalprim
David Casalprim is one of the pioneers of polar cycling in Europe and a great connoisseur of Finnish Lapland. He is an expert in extreme travel with destinations as different as Greenland, Alaska by bike and kayak, Trans Czescho-Slovakia, Mongolia, Atlas mountains and the Moroccan desert among a long etcetera. Normally you will find him in the bike shop Espaibici of Barcelona, specialized in travel bikes among others. In addition to guiding you, David will teach you the secrets of snow bikes.
Level: Activity for experienced cyclists and innate adventurers. It requires a good physical level but there aren’t technical difficulties. The accommodations are shared spaces, some of which are rustic cabins. The food is provided by the guides.
Duration: 8 days

First day of route, 45 km on mountain paths with a cabin rest stop in the middle. Accommodation in a fully equipped cabin or hotel, both with sauna options.
We continue 40 km through the mountains, the last 10 km can be optionally done on a secondary road. Cabin rest stop midway through. Accommodation in fully equipped cabin with possibility of sauna
We got to the tundra! A demanding day, 55 km of mountain following the border with Norway. Cabin rest stop in the km 18 and in the km 40 in the way. Lodging in mountain cabin with the minimum equipment.
We continue advancing by the tundra, relaxed day, only 20 km without supplies, to recover forces after a long day and before the queen stage. Lodging in mountain cabin with the minimum equipment.
Stage queen of the trip, 60 km per mountain for the most inhospitable area of the route, provisioning at km 20 on foot and at km 45 in cabin. We will arrive at Kilpisjärvi, end point of the route.
Return day to Kittilä. Morning free to rest or not…
Flight back home!!!
