Costa Brava and the ancient Greek city of Empuries on bike

With the route Costa Brava and Empuries on bike you also have the possibility to tour the archaeological Greek remains of Empuries that represents the gateway to the Greek and Roman culture on the Iberian Peninsula. Empúries is the only archaeological site in the Iberian Peninsula where remains a place where the Greek –Emporion colony enclave- with the remains of a Roman city founded in the early 1st century BC on the structures of a Roman military camp installed during the previous century.

Costa Brava !!! : with this expression, one journalist at the beginning of XX century wanted to describe the rough and rugged landscape that characterizes much of this coastal zone. One of the most beautiful Mediterranean landscapes, a natural space prized by the most famous painters and poets.

Beaches of fine sand between Mediterranean pines and cliffs of orange granite, near the ancient fisherman towns. We’ll visit one of the most preserved areas of this coast.

This route needs some cycling experience through small ascents and irregular paths.

This route is a part of the visit programs “A day cycling on the outskirts of Barcelona”. This program presents a variety of fascinating routes that can be taken from the city. We’ll travel from Barcelona in a comfortable, air-conditioned and modern van to our destination just outside the metropolitan area. Our van is fitted with a trailer that carries the bicycles that we’ll be using on the cycling trip of your choice.
